First Mother's Day

I had a fantastic first Mother's Day! I slept in a little, but then decided to get up so I could spend some time with my sweet little boy. Knowing we had a very busy day ahead of us, I was okay with sacrificing a little sleep to get some sweet Reese sugars! Cameron gave me a very beautiful charm bracelet and Reese gave me a sweet heart charm with "Mom" on it. We went to church and then headed to Cochran to have lunch with Cameron's Mom and Grandmother. We made the rounds and went onto spend a little time with Cameron's stepmom (of course we saw all the dads and grandadd, too...but this is Mother's Day we're talking about!) When we got back to our house, I cooked our supper for my mother and grandmother. Over all, it was a very lovely day!

Reese is way more interested in the bag than in helping Mommy open the Little Blue Box.

So It Begins...

Reese has started rolling over in his crib. Sometimes he does it in his sleep. Other times he does it before he goes to sleep. I was shocked the first night he rolled over while he was still awake and then actually fell asleep on his stomach. Remember this is a child who hated being on his stomach. Even now when he's playing, he flips over to his tummy, plays for a few minutes and then gets mad, puts his head down and starts crying. The first night he fell asleep on his tummy, before we went to bed Cameron went in and flipped him over...BIG MISTAKE!! That just made him really mad and he fussed for a few minutes and flipped back over. So, I guess we'll just have to get used to him liking to sleep on his stomach. I guess there could be worse things!

7 Months!

Dear Reese,
You are seven months old now! I can't believe how much you've grown in the last month. I know I say that every month, but more and more it is true. You are a sitting champ! You are such a strong little boy and love sitting on the floor playing with your toys. You also really still love the jumperoo and your exersaucer. You could bounce all day! Reese you are so close to crawling, but Mommy still doesn't put you on your belly enough, so maybe if we practice more you'll get it soon enough. You laugh and smile all the time. You love to talk, but then again, you are your Mommy's child! You usually wake up about 20-30 mintues before I get you up and just lay there and babble to yourself. You very rarely cry these days. You still don't have any teeth, but I think you are close. That's really the only time you are fussy. We went through a rough patch with some pretty gross congestion. You had to be sucked out several times a day for a couple of weeks. After your shots at your last doctor's appointment you spiked a small fever, but it didn't get very high and didn't last long. But it made you feel pretty crummy. You only wanted to sleep if Mommy was holding you. But we made it through and you felt better in no time!

We started feeding you baby food this month and so far you like it! You've had peas, green beans, squash, carrots, sweet potatoes, prunes, peaches, pears, bananas, and apples. You like some stuff better than others but seem to do well with all of it I mix it with cereal. You sure do make a mess! The other day you ate a container of bananas at breakfast, a container of peaches at lunch, and a container of prunes at supper...that was a lot of food for one day.

Here's what your day looks like this month:

Wake anywhere from 6 to 7, but Mommy gets you up after 6:45. Bottle around 7, play until 8:30 when you get breakfast. Nap anywhere from 9-11. You're getting better about napping well. But it's still different from day to day. You get your next bottle around 11. We play till about 12:30 when you get lunch. You usually nap anywhere from 1-3. Bottle around 3 and then play and sometimes catnap in the afternoon. You usually fall asleep in the car on the way home from G-Mommie's house. We give you your supper around 5:30. You get your bath between 6 and 6:30 on bath days. You love your bath now and have discovered the joy of splashing. We have some low-key playtime till your bedtime bottle around 7 and bedtime is no later than 7:30! But you usually fall asleep before then on days you don't catnap.
You are still in size 2-3 diapers but are quickly outgrowing those. Some of your 6 month clothes are too small but your pretty much on target with wearing 6-9 month clothes. I have no idea how much you weigh, but I would guess 18-19 lbs. You are so curious about everything and never sit still very long. Even when you are tired and fighting sleep, you are twisting all around and won't just sit still! You have amazing hand-eye coordination and rarely miss whatever you are reaching for. And without fail, whatever you get in your hands goes straight into your mouth! This month we dropped your dreamfed so you sleep from bedtime to waketime without getting up to eat. So far, you've done great with it! You also are not rolling over in your sleep yet, but do like sleeping on your side. Reese, you are such a happy baby and Mommy is constantly amazed with how well adjusted you are and how much you grow and learn everyday. We love you very much!
Love,
Mommy and Daddy

The Missing Month

Here are few pictures from Reese's 6th month of life! I still can't believe how much he's grown and changed since then.

I Always Feel Like Somebody's Watchin' Me...

The video monitor is a blessing and a curse. It's a curse because sometimes I think Reese will be peacefully sleeping in his crib, but when I flip the screen on to "check" on him, he's wide awake just laying there. Well, then I feel like I need to mess with him (although I am getting better about that) so I do, and then he won't go back to sleep. This occurs mostly during naptime. It's kinda funny because a few times when I've looked at him he is staring back at me as though he knows I'm watching him! It is a blessing because I can see him without actually going in there to peek at him. Most of the time it's a good thing! So, last night, Cameron and I were sitting on the sofa and Reese had been asleep for a couple of hours. We saw the lights start blinking so I turned the screen on the check on him. In his sleep he was twisting all around looking for his pacifier. We've gotten smart about putting multiple pacis in so he's sure to find one. He finally got his hands on one and brought it to his mouth but tried to put it in sideways so it fell out. That just ticked him off so he flopped around some more and got hold of it once again and got it put in straight. After which, he was happy and settled back into a good slumber. Cameron and I watched the whole thing on the tiny screen on the monitor. I was amazed because he had his eyes closed the whole time. Babies are so incredible!

Easter...A Month Later

We had an incredibly busy Easter weekend...that would be because we moved. I mean honestly, who moves the weekend of a major holiday?! Apparently, we do! So, not only was it a jammed packed weekend, but it was during the height of the pollen hysteria, so our beautiful floors were quickly tinged yellow from all the going in and out. Not to worry, though! The Easter Bunny still found Reese and left him all kinds of goodies. He was very interested in his basket! The Easter Bunny even left Mommy and Daddy a little treat (although I'm sure Reese will like Reese's Peanut Butter Eggs when he gets a little older. Right now they were just for Mommy and Daddy!). We went to church in Fort Valley and then headed to Cochran for lunch and egg huntin'. Overall it was a very good day. Here are some pictures from the day!

Lost and Found

I feel like my blog should be called lost and found!! I have been so slack, but I really do have a good reason. We are still unpacking. I am going to do Reese's 7 month pics tonight and do a post about him soon...promise. And I promise I'm going to post some pictures of the new house. But don't judge me...there is nothing up on the walls and boxes are still everywhere. Anyway, so back to the purpose of this post.

When I was 21 my parents gave me a pair of diamond stud earrings. I can't say I was super shocked because my sister got the same thing when she turned 21. Being that I am a second daughter, I couldn't do anything before Emmie had been allowed to do it. Examples: couldn't get my ears pierced till a certain age because that's when Emmie did it, couldn't shave my legs till a certain age because that's when Emmie did it, couldn't watch Dirty Dancing till a certain age...you get the picture. So, one day a few years later, after an incident in which I swear my sister's new puppy, Zoe, ate one of my earrings, one of the earrings turned up missing. We looked everywhere (and I mean everywhere!) but to no avail. So, I hung on to the other one for a couple of years after which my parents had pity on me and gave me a replacement earring for Christmas. Fastforward a couple years to the summer I got married.

About 6 weeks before the big day I was in a hurry getting ready for something and was looking for my earrings. (Let me just say that I did wear my earrings everyday, but I took them off at night so they wouldn't dig into the side of my neck. I also really valued my earrings, but those of you who know me, especially when I was younger, know that I haven't always been the most responsible person.) I couldn't find them anywhere. I tore my room apart looking for them but they never turned up. I was heartbroken and felt like I completely let my parents down. Fastforward to last week.

Last weekend, my dad and I were putting the crib at their house together (they finally got one...only took 7 months!). Reese was spending the night with them and we were trying to get it done. I dropped the allen wrench under the bed and my dad was blindly looking for it. He felt something and said "what is this?!" He then proceeded to hold up one of my long lost earrings. They were smushed in the carpet pressed against the foot of the bed. How they didn't get vacuumed up, I don't know. I still can't believe almost three years later my earrings turned up. Anyway, sorry to bore you with this random story, but I thought it was kinda funny and interesting. Promise to update soon with Reese pics and info, cuz let's be honest...that's really why you continue to read the blog, right!?!
