Quick Update

I had a doctor's appointment today! It was one of those no big deal ones that lasts 15 minutes (sure beats being there 3 hours!). He did talk to me about my blood tests so far and the results from my combined screening exam. Basically everything is perfect. We have a very minimal chance of chromosomal abnormalites and all my other bloodwork checked out great! The Lord has really blessed me during this pregnancy and I hope He continues to allow it to progress just as smoothly. Little Reese has been good to his Mama!! I go back June 29th for my glucose screening test and another ultrasound to check my placenta. I hope it has moved, but it will be fine if it hasn't.

Belly Movements

So, in addition to being able to feel the baby from the outside, now we can see the baby move from the outside! It is quite a weird thing to see. I was sitting on the sofa yesterday with my shirt pulled up and I swear I saw my stomach twitch in the spot where I felt the baby kick. I told Cameron and of course he didn't believe me. So it happened again and again. I kept asking Cameron if he saw it, to which he replied a big fat no...but then he gasped and said "Ooo...I saw it!" So now, in addition to spending time with his hand on my belly, we both stare at it waiting for Reese to kick me!

Cruise With Me, Baby!

Reese is an international traveler before he has even made his debut into this world. Cameron and I went on a cruise last weekend! Cameron's office went, so including us, we had 20 people total (staff and spouses went). It was a lot of fun and I'm very glad we went. We debated going for several days because of all the swine flu broo-ha-ha. But after weighing all the pros and cons, we decided it was silly not to go. We've been back for almost a week and other than a little tiredness, I have felt fine! We drove down to Tampa with Cameron's boss, Dr. Miller and his wife, Maureen. That was the longest car-trip I've taken pregnant. It took us about 5 1/2 hours. I think for all intents and purposes I did really well with it! I wasn't having to stop every 30 minutes to pee or stretch, so that was a nice surprise. We spent a full day at sea and then ported in Grand Cayman. We were originally supposed to go to Cozumel, but the pigs kinda messed that up. But it was fun, none-the-less. We weren't ported very long, but long enough to get off the boat and do some shopping. Of course, the first things we bought were for Reese....such is life now, I guess! After we left Cayman, we spent another day at sea before returning back to Tampa. It really kinda made me want to go on another cruise!

The baby has been moving around so much lately! I feel him throughout the day every day and it is the coolest thing in the world! But even more cool is that Cameron finally felt him last week. I was sitting on the sofa and he was kicking hard, so I yelled at Cameron to come put his hand on my belly and he felft him kick! He's only felt him a couple of times since then, but he tries to feel him everyday and pushes on my belly saying "Kick Mommy, Reese!" It's so cute!

In other news, we got Reese's crib bedding ordered. I am glad to finally get that done. The store we ordered it from was having a sale this weekend, so we just went ahead and did it. My parents gave us a huge present this weekend...our glider! I was so excited to get it. It is the most comfortable chair I have ever put my booty in. It's lime green! That's one of the colors for the nursery. The fabric is a couple of shades of blue, lime green, cream, yellow, and chocolate brown. It's gonna be so cute!

Well, I'll get some updated belly pictures and some cruise pictures posted soon!
Happy Memorial Day, everyone!

Movin' and Groovin'

First thing's first...after writing it out several times and mulling over it for a few days, we decided to go with Reese instead of Reece. That was our first instinct with the spelling, so we're stickin' to it!

After my doctor's appointment almost three weeks ago, I have been waiting to feel the baby move around. Dr. Paul asked me if I had felt him yet (when I was 18 weeks) and I hadn't. He told me it would be any time in the next two weeks. So, I have been driving Cameron crazy wondering out loud when I was going to feel him. I had kinda felt something that feels like a muscle twitch, but wasn't sure if that was Reese, so I didn't think much about it. So this past Tuesday I felt the same twitchy thing, but stronger and decided that was him! When I kept feeling it all througout the day on Wednesday, I knew without a doubt my baby was movin' and groovin' inside me. He's most active during the evening and fortunately he's not waking me up at night...yet. I know that's coming.

Since I started feeling him, Cameron is dying to feel him, too. He puts his hand on my belly and shakes it around saying "Move, Reese!". I told him he probably wasn't going to be able to feel him for a few more weeks. I think he was a little disappointed he'll have to wait that long. Till then, this will be a bonding experience for me and my son. Daddy's bonding time will come soon.

By the way...I still can't figure out how to load a picture of the crib, so if you really care, just click on the link!

We Have a Name!

When I said Cameron and I were productive this weekend, I really meant it! We decided on a name for Baby Boy G. His name will be:

Reese (Reece) Kendrick Garvin

We're not sure how we're gonna spell the first name. But that is what he will be called! We love the name Rees(c)e and kept coming back to it. So on Saturday in the car, we went through our list to find the middle name. Kendrick is my Dad's name and was his mother's maiden name, as well as her father's last name and his father before him. It goes back at least four generations in our family. So, there it is!! We are very excited and now he just needs to grow big and strong for the next 18-20 weeks (but not too big...I don't want a 10 pounder!).

Over the Hump

Well, I'm halfway through the pregnancy! I can't believe it has gone by so quickly. I was talking to Cameron last night about how fast it has gone by. I think a big reason it has flown is because, for all intents and purposes, I have felt fine. I feel relatively normal, actually. This pregnancy has truly been a blessing. I never had any nausea or actual "morning" sickness...not even a second of "oh no, I'm gonna puke!" I have not had any food aversions, no heightened sense of smell, no real cravings (yet...I'm still waiting on those to kick in), and my digestive system has remained relatively normal. I have had more noticeable heartburn in the past couple of weeks. But nothing a couple of Tums doesn't help. I did go through a rough patch toward the end of March, early April with my allergies. I'm talking 24/7, I can't breath through my nose. I know that will probably come and go and get worse the further along I am. I try so hard not to complain about those little things because I have had such an easy pregnancy thus far. I hope my sweet little boy will continue to be sweet to me for the rest of the pregnancy and after he is born. I'm still not sure if I'm feeling him yet. I'm not that worried about it. I expect to be certain I'm feeling him any time now!

Cameron and I had a very productive weekend. We went to Atlanta on Saturday to shop for the baby's nursery. We ended up buying a crib! It is so pretty! If I can figure out how to post a picture of it I will. It is a traditional crib from a company called Munire. It is made of solid wood and is very sturdy. We got it in the dark espresso brown finish. The crib is backordered until June, so it wont' be in until early July. But I'm not worried about it! That will still be two months before the baby comes. We also went to Babies R' Us to look at strollers, pack n' play, high chairs, etc. There is no BRU in Macon or Warner Robins, which kinda stinks. We picked out the stroller/infant seat and the pack n' play and pretty much narrowed our choices down on the high chair. I also bought some maternity clothes! Over all, not a bad day's work!

Belly Pictures At Last!

Well, we finally got the belly pictures uploaded! They span 12 weeks to 20 weeks! I feel like I've had really subtle growth over time, but here in the last week and a half or so, I feel like I really popped out. I actually have a pregnant bump that is noticeable in clothes! Also, in looking back at these pictures, it's amazing how the belly fluctuates. I guess that's due, in part, to bloating and what-not. Funny story...I was shopping with my friend Kathryn (and her little eight month old, Mary Grace) on Friday. We were in the children's department at Belk and I bought the baby a little Polo onesie, because he has to be like his Daddy with his style. As I was checking out the lady at the counter asked me when I was due, so I told her September 20th. She looked at me incredulously and said "You're kind of big to have that much longer!" Gee thanks, lady! That's exactly what every pregnant woman wants to hear! I know that is only the beginning of comments like that. I just laughed it off. Well, without further ado...
